Our Business Policies

Please take a moment to acquaint yourselves with our business policies.   We have developed them in an attempt to set your expectations and to ensure that you have a pleasant buying experience. Based on current customer feedback, we are confident that you also will be satisfied with your purchases, and will want to do business with us again in the future.   In this document, we have tried to anticipate many of your questions, but please feel free to e-mail us if you have a question that is not covered here.   Just click on a topic from the list below, and thanks for your business!

Normal Business Hours

  1. Monday thru Friday 9am - 9pm Eastern time
  2. Phone orders can only be accepted during normal business hours.   Voice mail available 24 hours a day.
  3. E-mail, Fax, and online web orders can be accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Item Availability Policy

  1. We have over 100,000 cards, and specialize in higher grade condition singles, stars, semi-stars and commons:
    1. Baseball cards between 1948-1975
    2. Hockey cards between 1951/52-1988/89 (singles & complete sets)
    3. Football cards between 1948-1974
    4. Basketball cards between 1948/49-1976/77
  2. We also carry a limited supply of vintage programs, magazines, ticket stubs, and other various memorabilia.   From time to time, we also carry autographed items, purchased exclusively from the promoters of autograph shows, to ensure authenticity. 
  3. We will never bring an item reserved for a confirmed order to a show.   However, sometimes we receive more requests for items listed on the website than we have available in stock at any particular time.
  4. Most of the time we have several duplicates of any particular card, and although they are usually ExMt to NearMt, they may have some differing elements of condition. In order to serve you better, it is important that we know your condition requirements.
  5. Remember, we are always buying, so our inventory fluctuates quickly. Especially for rare and very popular cards, for example '52 Topps high numbers or 1935 National Chicles, they may become available and be sold the same day. If you are looking for something specific, please be sure to place a want list on file with us.
  6. We will do our best to fill all requests.
  7. We have too many cards to bring them all to each show. You can check our show schedule and request us to being something specific (if we have it) to a show that you will be attending.

General Ordering Policies

  1. No minimum order
  2. We accept Visa, MasterCard.   We also are pleased to accept payment via PayPal (which allows all major credit cards).   Our PayPal seller ID is:  greatcatchpaypal@great-catch.com
  3. Our prices are based on several factors, but primarily on availability and condition of the item.
  4. All CT residents or items shipped to CT addresses are subject to 6% sales tax
  5. Confirmation of all orders is sent via e-mail

  7. Prices are quoted in U.S. dollars
  8. Sorry, items cannot be shipped to addresses outside of the U.S.
  9. No C.O.D.'s please

  12. Credit card orders will be checked, and only shipped to the billing address of the credit card.   We regret any inconvenience, but this is for your protection against fraudulent use of your credit card.   We also reserve the right to make exceptions to this policy for long-time customers known to us.
  13. With purchase, buyer agrees to all policies stated in this document.
  14. We will attempt to prevent inappropriate use of our system, but we are not responsible for damage or loss caused by errors in the system or the internet.

eBay Terms and Conditions

In addition to our normal business policies stated elsewhere in this document, the following policies and conditions apply to all of our eBay auctions.

  1. Your bid on an item constitutes an acceptance of all policies, terms and conditions.
  2. All auction items will be described in detail as much as possible.   If you need additional information, we will be happy to answer any and all questions about the item with your timely email.   We can also send you additional detailed descriptions, scans and item histories.   This help is here for you to minimize any problems that came about after the sale.
  3. All material is guaranteed to be genuine. We offer no reproductions unless explicitly stated.
  4. Great Catch Vintage Sports Cards & Memorabilia reserves the right to cancel any bids on any item.   If you have feedback less than 10, or have several negative feedback points, it is advisable for you to contact us for permission to bid or risk bid cancellation.   We reserve the right to notify the eBay community regarding problem bidders.
  5. Payments are due within 7 days of auction end.   After this time a reminder email may be sent to encourage your more timely payment.   After 10 days we reserve the right to use eBay's Billing Reminder Service as a method of collection. If payment or contact email on your part is not received by 15 days, we reserve the right to cancel the sale and issue negative feedback we see fit and your future bidding priviliges with us will be revoked.

        1. Please do not send cash through the mail.   We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen funds that do not arrive as you planned. Please take care to send payment for your reserved items using a safer method.

Shipping Policy

  1. Shipping costs on orders for single cards will vary from $2 to $6 depending on card value.   For larger orders, complete sets or heavier items, we will only charge you what it actually costs us - we're not trying to make money on the shipping.
  2. Shipping costs are based on the following factors: total order cost, total weight and shipping distance.   We reserve the right, depending on size/cost of the order, to insure your package and include those costs in the shipping charge.
  3. In most cases, we ship via USPS Priority Mail, and you will be able to track your package at www.usps.com with the tracking number we will provide you at the time of shipping. In some cases, we will ship via FedEx or UPS, but it is at our discretion. If you have had difficulty receiving packages using any of these methods, please tell us so we can avoid that method with your orders.
  4. Often orders are shipped on the same day the order is confirmed, depending on the number of items in the order and the method of payment.   Orders paid by credit card, money order, or cashiers check are shipped within 1 business day of order confirmation.   All other orders will be shipped within 1 business day of verification of payment and clearing of funds.

Returns

As our customer, your satisfaction is our ultimate goal.

Only items that were purchased through mail order or online in our web store are eligible for return. In other words, if you did not have the opportunity to visually inspect the item in person before placing your order, and we selected and sent the item(s) to you based on your specifications, it can be returned for credit toward another purchase or refunded.   UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES if you selected the item in person, whether at a card show or at a private sale by appointment, can any item personally selected by you be returned.

We work very hard to accurately describe all items for sale, and ensure that what you are ordering will meet your expectations.  

If, in the rare instance, an item that you have purchased from us by mail order or from our online store needs to be returned, please note:

  1. Returns must be sent back within 5 business days of receiving the item(s).   After the 5-day period, no returns will be accepted for refund or credit.
  2. Please include a copy of your invoice with any returned items. Also indicate whether you want a refund or credit on your account against future purchases.
  3. The return privilege is void if the item(s) have been tampered with or are damaged. & nbsp; Mail order items and online store items are shipped and sealed with tamper-proof sealing.
  4. Assuming the item(s) have been returned in originally shipped condition, the amount refunded will be the price of the item to you, minus the original shipping costs and up to a $5.00 re-stocking fee. Your refund will either be sent via US mail on a Great Catch business check, in a money order or be posted as a credit to your account within 2 business days of item receipt.

Buying Policy

Great Catch Vintage Sports Cards & Memorabilia is always interested in purchasing cards for our inventory.  You may want to check what we are looking for to see which items we are particularly interested in.  We make every attempt to keep this list up to date.  Follow the steps below to ensure a prompt response to your inquiry:

  1. Please have a price in mind for your item(s).
  2. Email or Fax (860-666-2500) a list of the items you have for sale.   Please describe the item(s) in detail, and be sure to identify any off-condition items or problems.   Depending on what you have for sale, it may be helpful to include scans of the item(s).   We will respond within one week to schedule a viewing, or notify you via email if we are not currently interested.
  3. Or, you may phone us at 860-665-1251 during normal business hours, describing the items in detail, noting any off-condition items and stating your price. If for some reason, you do not reach us directly and get our voice mail, please leave a number and time to return your call.
  4. Or, you can review our show schedule, and if it is convenient for you, come see us at a show and bring your item(s) with you. This is often the fastest method.

Want List Policy

Each week, we receive several want lists from collectors all across the U.S.   As a sports card dealer, we take pride in trying to help our customers find the cards they need to complete their collections.  Some collectors are interested in singles and others are actively building one or more sets, involving hundreds of cards.  Regardless of your particular field of interest, we look forward to working with you.   There are a few important steps to follow:

  1. Please join our mailing list, which allows you to describe in detail the particular elements of condition that are important to you, and your email/phone contact information.   This is the most important step to enable us to meet your expectations.
  2. Then, send us an email with you want list. Describe what item(s) you are looking for, your approximate price range, and whether you want to identify which item(s) are a higher priority, in case your want list contains more items than you can afford at one time.   If you like, you can define a monthly or quarterly amount that you'd like to spend, or a timeframe you anticipate requiring to complete your want list.
  3. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL WE CONSIDER YOUR WANT LIST TO BE AN ORDER FOR US TO FILL IMMEDIATELY.   Sending us a want list does not obligate you in any way.
  4. Typically, within 3 business days of receiving your want list, we will check our inventory and construct a proposal for you of cards on your list that meet your condition/budget requirements.   We will contact you via Email and you will have 2 business days to accept/reject our proposal.   If you reject it, no harm, no foul.   If you accept, your item(s) will be placed on reserve status for you and considered a confirmed order.   From that point, the order will be handled as an email order as above.
  5. For long-term want lists, we anticipate that you may periodically discover and purchase cards from other sources.   No problem!   In that case, please just send us a complete updated list.   We will overlay your previous one with the updated one.
  6. Forward your want list and let's get started doing business together!

Privacy Policy

  1. We respect our customers and enjoy an excellent reputation in the industry for integrity and providing excellent customer service.   We worked hard to earn it, and will do everything in our power to preserve our reputation.   Remember, this is our full-time livelihood.
  2. Under no circumstances, will we ever disclose your name, address or any information about you to third parties, except as required by law.   We never sell or share our customer information with any other organization.
